Accountant
Maintains financial records of the production and production company.


Actor Training
Instructors for actors.


Actors
Performers in principal or supporting roles.


Art Director
Oversees the people who design and construct the sets.


Art Assistant
Assistant to the art department.


Assistant Production Coordinator
Assistant to the production coordinator.


Assistant Location Manager
Assistant to the location manager.


Best Boy
Assistant to the gaffer.


Bookkeeper
See Accountant.


Boom Operator
Part of the sound department; operates the long pole with the microphone at the end. The boom op is responsible for recording dialogue without getting the microphone in the shot.


Camera Trainee
Trainee in the camera department.


Camera Operator
Operates the camera, at the instruction of the director of photography.


Carpenter
Constructs sets, etc.


Catering
Responsible for providing meals for the cast and crew.


Computer Animators
Uses computers to generate animated effects for titles, opticals, creatures, etc.


Computer Repair/Services
Fixes the computers when they break.


Craft Service
Responsible for providing snacks and “substantials” for the cast and crew.


Dialect Coach
Trains the actors in specific accents, languages, and regional idiom.


Digital Special Effects Artist
Creator of digitally-generated visual effects.


Director of Photography (DOP)
Head of the camera department, responsible for lighting, framing, and photographing the film.


Director's Assistant
Assistant to the director. Not an Assistant Director (AD).


Driver
Drives vehicles used in and for the production.


Editor
Transforms the film from a pile of assorted clips and takes, into a finished product.


Electric
Maintains needed electricity for the production.


Extras
Performers who do not have lines or specific roles, but fill crowd scenes, outdoor locations, or anywhere else where people would generally be found in the real world.


Firearms
Manages guns and other projectile weaponry for the production.


First Assistant Director (AD)
Runs the set, breaks down and tracks the film's shooting progress, keeps the film on schedule.


First Assistant Editor
Provides all logistical assistance to the editor - catalogues shots, syncs rushes, manages the paperwork of the editing room.


First Assistant Camera
Assistant to the camera operator, responsible for care of the camera, and possibly pulling focus.

Gaffer
Executes the DOP’s lighting needs.


Generator Operator
Operates the “genny” (generator) for power where A/C is not available.


Graphic Designer
Designs and creates graphics for the production, for props, signage, etc.


Grip
Responsible for maintenance of equipment, laying of dolly tracks, miscellaneous lifting-and-moving jobs on set.


Hair Stylist
Part of the makeup department, specifically looking after the actors' hair.


Illustrator
Generates conceptual illustrations to aid the production department in creating the visual look of the film.


Key Grip
Head of the grip team, who works closely with the gaffer.


Lawyer
Legal counsel for the production, handles contract and copyright issues, legal troubles.


Line Producer
Responsible for the budgeting, scheduling, and day to day execution of the production


Location Manager
Finds, secures, and manages all non-studio locations for the shooting of the film.


Makeup Artist
Handles daily makeup for the actors.


Music Composer
Composes the film score.


Musician
Performs music for the film score.

Paralegal
Assistant to the legal department.


Postproduction Facilities
Able to provide facilities and equipment for the post-production process.


Producer's Assistant
Assistant to the producer.


Production Assistant (PA)
The “foot soldier” of the production - PAs can work both on set and in the production office. They may also be assigned to specific departments to assist those departments. Often considered the “entry level position” in film production.


Production Coordinator
Runs the production office, works closely with the Production Manager.


Production Designer
Designs and oversees the "look" of the film, including sets and props.


Production Manager (PM)
Supervises and manages the shooting phase.


Props Artist
Creates, provides and manages props for the production.


Props Assistant
Assistant to the props department.


Prosthetics
Creates special makeup effects.


Pyrotechnics
The explosion department.


Researchers
Conduct research for the production, in whatever capacity necessary. Most often attached to documentary productions.


Rights Clearance
Responsible for all copyright issues within the film, and obtaining rights for use of others' copyrighted properties, for example, stock footage or photographs, logos, etc.


Script Supervisor / Continuity
Ensures that the script is being followed properly and that there is visual continuity between shots.


Second Assistant Camera
Assistant to the first assistant camera. May load film, operate clapper board, etc.


Second Assistant Director (2AD)
Assistant to the first AD, supervises cast movements and extras, prepares call sheets.


Second Assistant Editor
Assistant to the editing department.


Security
Guards against theft or damage to property, assists in non-production personnel control.


Set Construction
Build sets for the production.


Set Decorator
Decorates sets, kind of like the production's interior decorator.


Sound Designer
Architect of the overall soundscape for the film, oversees sound editing and mixing.


Sound Editor
Member of the sound crew who edits sound effects and dialogue.


Special Effects
Responsible for on-set effects and gags, the creation of special props or items that have hidden mechanical properties.


Special Effects Makeup Artist
Makeup artist who works specifically on unusual makeup requirements, such as gore, alien / creature effects, etc.


Stills Photographer
Takes pictures of scenes from the movie for use in promotional materials. May also document the behind-the-scenes action.


Storyboard Artist
Draws storyboards (sketches of shots) for the director and camera department.


Studio Space for Rent
Able to provide shooting space.


Stunt Coordinator
Oversees / designs stunts for the shoot.


Stunt Performer
Performs actions deemed too difficult or dangerous for the principal cast.

Third Assistant Director (3AD)
Assists the second assistant director.


Trainee Editor
Trainee in the editing department.


Trainee Assistant Director (TAD)
Trainee in the assistant director department.


Translator
Translates when special language situations arise.


Transport Coordinator
Organizes the transportation of all actors, props, sets, crew, and equipment to and from locations.


Tutor
In compliance with regulations, tutors are provided for all young actors who must miss regular school for an extended period to perform in films.


Voice Training
Trains actors in effective use of voice.


Voiceover Artist
Voice actors used for narration, announcements, animated characters, etc.


Wardrobe Designer
Designs costumes for the production.


Wardrobe Assistant
Assists the wardrobe department.


Web Designer
Creates internet pages and/or new media content.


Writer
Writes the screenplay / adaptation / scenario / dialogue for the film.
